Hello from John Day, Oregon. Got in yesterday after spending a couple of nights camping out in a green in the middle of Mitchell, Oregon. It was kind of weird to be pitching a tent in the middle of a town, where tents were allowed, but was also not the typical camping site. All in all though, it was a nice town filled with friendly people, and despite being hard to find, it was fun to be staying there.

On a side note, previous to camping out in Mitchell, we were staying at the Kah-Nee-Ta casino. We lost $175 between the three of us. As glamorous as some people like Bill Simmons make it sound, casinos just aren't for me, and that is a great reason why. It was nice to take in the hot tub and steam room though, which made losing the cash worth while, as I would have paid for the great steam room that they offered. It was also worth getting my own king sized bed, as I had the pleasure of sleeping in that night. Simply beautiful after all the nights of tenting and cots.

In regards to the biking, it seems that I may be biking a bit less. The biking experience just doesn't seem to be one that really favors me, as both of the bikes that I have ridden seem to show. The road bike has lost four different bolts in the two times I've tried to take it out. While two of the bolts were of no real consequence, the others were holding the seat in place after only 3 miles into the trip, which almost threw me from the seat when it was lost, and the other came out of the derailer after a few hundred yards into the first day biking, just before a major multiple mile downhill. As for the Canondale, as previously mentioned, it was run down on the only day I tried to take it out. As such, for the safety of the bicycles, as well as my own, I've decided to leave the majority of the biking to the man the trip was created around, my father. I really don't want to chance what will happen next when I attempt to jump on a bike in Oregon.

As for current events, we are purchasing the tickets for the two Seattle games today, supposedly, which I am very excited for. Also, as each day passes, we get closer to the border of Idaho, and another state to check off in the journey. Can't wait to check a new state off of the states seen, although I've got a ways to go before I meet my fathers all 48 contiguous US states visited. Gotta start somewhere though. Until next time, hope life is treating you well.

I've never been great at geography, but how are you getting closer to Idaho, while simultaneously planning a side trip to Seattle? Either way, enjoy the Mariner's game!
