A few random thoughts from the journey...
Florence has a beautiful beach, even in the shitty weather. If we caught it on a good day, this would be a gorgeous place to settle, with the gentle rolling waves creating a very relaxing setting. However, as it is located in the Pacific Northwest, with its reputation for rain, the chance of getting many days to enjoy the beach here are slim, which looks like strike one against settling in Oregon. However, the Irish experience taught me the beauty of soft days, so who knows, it could work.
I will love having all the pictures from the trip. I will not love having to pull over every half mile to take the pictures, even with the knowledge that we have to kill time for dad to compete his travels for the day. With that in mind, I hope you enjoy some of the pictures that will be posted.
The Sox are playing the A’s not all that far away in Oakland. Wish I had the time to drive down to catch that game. However, that isn’t an option, so we went to a sports bar to try to catch the game. Oregon, however, gets very screwed when it comes to baseball, with the Giants and A’s games, if not more, getting blacked out by the baseball package, with the Mariners getting the TV coverage. How much does that suck? At least two different teams get blacked out in this market with no alternative means of catching the games, and you are forced to watch the Mariners. Ouch, glad to live in a major market with our own team, even if I have to miss a few games due to a system in need of a fix while on the road. Strike two Oregon, and its not even the second day of the journey.
