We got into South Dakota safe and sound, another US state that I can check off of my list. The part we were in was not different from the parts of Nebraska we had been running through though. There were still quite a few hills, and apparently a constant stiff headwind if you listen to my dear father. One of the cooler things about South Dakota we experienced on our first night in the state was the intense lightening storms. The size of the bolts of lightening combined with the way they make their way horizontally across the sky was simply stunning, a great testament to the power of nature. I will always enjoy storms like that, as long as I am in the safety of a dry space, that is.
Other than that, the past couple of days have been filled with golf. This time Matt and I went up to Scotland to hit the links there. It wasn’t quite as grand as it sounds, though, as Scotland in this case isn’t the home of golf, but instead simply Scotland, South Dakota. That being said, the course was nice, with a nice stream running through to catch some of my golf balls, including my DHL branded Calloways, which I had really been enjoying. So while that wasn’t exactly the highlight of the round, I am down to shooting a 102, and over 18 holes now, not only 9. My skills are getting refined to the point where I can actually get a birdie, and on a par 5 at that, not just a par 3. It was great, hit a straight drive, crushed my third shot to the fringe, and chipped in after four shots. I could really get to enjoy this whole golf thing as long as it includes more moments like that.
One last thing from me today. It regards the rumor of Reggie Miller to Celts. First of all, I don’t know if Reggie could live with being a 8th man off of our bench, because depending on the circumstance, he could easily be behind a healthy Tony Allen with two great shooters like Paul and Ray on the floor in our starting five. Not only that, but we can also bring Scalabrine off of the bench as a big man who can also stretch the floor. Having a 2/3 like Allen who can defend as well as he can, not to mention adding the high-energy to the court would be much more important than adding another shooter whose 40+ year old legs probably work no better than Wally’s did last year. In any case however, I can just picture NBA Live 2008. My buddy Tommy will be having the time of his life with the Celtics, merging his favorite franchise/video game player/employer all into one. That being said Tommy, as with any year, regardless of the talent, I refuse to play against the Celtics, and having Reggie there if anything else steels my resolve of the matter. Have fun beating BTucks and Deefo with them though, I will enjoy seeing that as a spectator.
